Step by Step – A Harp Primer (Book2)

Difficulty Level Beginner
Harp Type Lever Harp
Other Methods & Studies

“STEP BY STEP BOOK TWO is a continuation of the first volume where it was assumed that the student is not only a beginner on the Harp but is not yet able to read music. In Book One the student learns the notes from the Fifth Octave C to the Third Octave C. Here the note reading is expanded to all pitches from Fifth Octave F to Second Octave G.
In Book One I recommended that only the second fingers be used so that the student could better concentrate on note reading. In this volume, I gradually employ the use of all eight fingers as well as introduce group placing, Thirds and Triads.
By the time work in this book is completed the student should understand the most commonly used time signatures and note values from whole notes through eighth notes with an understanding of how to count each measure in any given piece. I have also included several Theory workpapers and urge you to augment these with some drills of your own…” S. Balderston
