Harp and Guitar Sonata (LHS)

“Sonata for harp and guitar was commissioned by my sister,
Heather Cornelius, with the support of a grant from The American
Harp Society. The first movement features a lively groove in
which the two instruments’ rhythms interlock in a hocket-like
fashion. The music finally dissolves into a variety of percussive
sounds on both instruments. The second movement is a tender
song with a florid melody over a gently pulsing accompaniment,
inspired by the famous slow movement of Rodrigo’s Concierto de
Aranjuez. Together these contrasting movements express the joy of
our friendship as brother and sister.” ~Nathan Cornelius
