This beautiful traditional Welsh folk song, first published in 1802 in The Bardic Museum by harpist, Edward Jones, has been used for many different lyrics. One popular set of lyrics, The Ash Grove (Llwyn Onn), tells about a quiet, reflective walk through an Ash Grove and lost love. The Thanksgiving hymn Let All Things Now Living by Katherine K. Davis (1939), and hymns The Master Hath Come by Sarah Doudney (1871), and Sent Forth by God’s Blessing by Omer Westendorf also use this tune. This grand arrangement by the Welsh harpist John Thomas would be suitable for a recital or concert.
