The charming sonatinas of Friedrich Kuhlau have long been cherished by pianists for their elegant classical style, clear formal structure, and lyrical expressiveness. In preparing these arrangements for the harp, my aim has been to preserve the clarity and musical intent of the originals, while adapting the texture and articulation in a way that is idiomatic and natural for the harp.
These pieces offer young and intermediate harpists an excellent opportunity to explore classical phrasing, articulation, and balance. They also provide a delightful repertoire for recital and study, bridging the gap between pedagogical value and musical enjoyment.
I hope these transcriptions will bring new life to these lovely works and inspire harpists to include them in their own musical journeys.
