“Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 12 in A major, K. 414, dating from the autumn of 1792, is the first of an impressive series of seventeen concertos written during the composer’s Vienna period. Together with the concertos in F major (K. 413) and C major (K. 415) it forms a self-contained group. Mozart first offered this set to the public in 1783 in manuscript for subscription. Then later in 1785 they were issued in print…
In transcribing this concerto for the harp, it has been my intention to reflect as much as possible Mozart’s original phrasing and articulation marks. Although harp fingering cannot always implement this, it is important to be clear about the composer’s intentions. In arranging this work, care has been taken not to alter the fabric of the music but only to adapt textures where necessary from piano to harp…” Professor Skaila Kanga May 2004
