Cuban Dream After the Storm (4 harps)

“I composed this piece for the Chicago Harp Quartet and I had the privilege of being in the audience at Carnegie Hall when they brought my composition to life in a marvelous way…ABOUT THE TITLE: I remember many nights during my childhood in my country of birth, Cuba, falling asleep during thunderstorms, looking at the lightning through the window…A. Ortiz  The composition includes glissandos, tapping on the soundboard and the rhythms of the Cuban danzon and conga.  Specific instructions from the composer include “…measures 1 to 33: it is a thunderstorm.  Feel the wind and hear the thunders coming closer…and then going away…Finally, the most important instruction: HAVE FUN!”  A.
