Award-Winning Harpist Stephanie Bennett has performed her compositions and arrangements in the United States, Switzerland, France, Brazil, Australia, Japan, Argentina, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Panama, and Ecuador, including solo harp performances for the Harp Society of the Australian Capitol Territory; at the International Music Seminars in Montpelier, France; at the Montreux Jazz Festival (Switzerland); and at the International Alliance of Women in Music Conference in California. The Hollywood Reporter has called Stephanie Bennett “one of our country’s top harpists”. Awards include First Prize in the Salvi International Competition of Jazz & Pop Harp. Her compositions have been heard as source music on television shows including MURPHY BROWN, PARTY OF FIVE, and THE SINGLE GUY; and on feature film A TIME FOR DANCING. Her chamber music compositions have also been performed by ensembles such as the classical harp, flute and viola trio ‘Entr’amis’ and the contemporary handbell ensemble ‘Campanile’. She has written arrangements and orchestrations for artists including Celtic fiddler Mary Barton, new age ensemble Midnight Skye, Celtic harpist Julie Mondin, rocker Ozzy Osbourne, and Native American flute player Golana. At Peace Music has released two relaxation music CDs produced by Stephanie Bennett, featuring her compositions, arrangements and harp playing, accompanied by other musicians. She has also produced and released several recordings on her own record label, Harpworld Music Co. Stephanie is also an active studio musician in Los Angeles, and can be heard on Grammy-winning recordings by Adele and by Beck, as well as on recordings by Sir Paul McCartney, Josh Groban, Linda Ronstadt, Spongebob Squarepants, and Meatloaf. Stephanie Bennett is a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Music, where she received a Bachelor of Music in Harp Performance (With High Distinction and a James B. Angell Scholar Award). At Michigan, she studied composition with Pulitzer Prize winners Leslie Bassett and Ross Lee Finney, and studied harp with Salzedo protégée Ruth Dean Clark. She has pursued further study at Grove School of Music (courses in Advanced Modern Harmony, Composition and Arranging) and at UCLA Extension (Film Scoring with Emmy-Winner and Academy Award Nominee Gerald Fried, and Emmy Nominee Don Ray). Stephanie Bennett is a past president of the Los Angeles chapter of the American Harp Society, and is a member of the Recording Academy, ASCAP, Society of Composers & Lyricists, World Harp Congress, International Society of Folk Harpers & Craftsmen, and Professional Musicians Local 47.
