This original work for solo harp, “A Big Cat Hug,” was written by Stephanie
Bennett. The style moves from a folk music feel to flowing impressionism
and back again.
Says Bennett, “I composed this piece one afternoon while watching my
beloved cat sleeping. At the end of the recording, I had the engineer add the
sound of a cat purring; so I recommend that for full effect, you purr at the
conclusion of the piece. Or ask your audience to purr, as I usually do.”
