The Petite Suite was originally written for four hands on piano by Claude Debussy. It has been transcribed many times, most notably Henri Busser’s orchestral version. I have had the opportunity to perform the orchestrated version frequently with Charles Dutoit, acclaimed interpreter of the French repertoire. Busser uses the harp most appropriately and gave me the idea that this would be a fitting, albeit demanding, showpiece for the harp. I’ve performed it many times and love the fact that the colors of the harp add a splendid spectrum to Debussy’s original score.
