The Historical Harp Society of Ireland Online Courses
The Historical Harp Society of Ireland is running three new, online courses covering early Irish and Medieval European music for harp, as well as a module for musicians of all kinds looking to overcome performance anxiety.
The courses start on 14th October, are conducted via Zoom, and are open to players of any kind of harp – from anywhere in the world – from post-beginner to professional levels.
The courses are:
– A Garden of Earthly Delights: Medieval Music From Around Europe. Focus is on single-line dance melodies and multi-voiced compositions, from the earliest notated English dances to later Italian manuscripts, playable on any kind of harp. Course tutors are Leah Stuttard and Carolin Margraf.
– Overcoming Performance Anxiety with Dr Jennifer Mackerras, a fully qualified and registered Alexander Technique teacher, who has worked at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.
– Fundamentals of Playing the Early Irish Harp will cover 17th- and 18th-century performers and composers like Donal Black and Turlough Carolan. Tutor is Alessia Bianchi, a specialist in historical Gaelic harps.
The cost for each course is €130, but there is an EARLY-BIRD DISCOUNT of €99 for those who enroll before 1st October 2023. For more information visit The Historical Harp Society or Ireland’s website.
